Outdoor prayer spaces to encourage prayer and reflection
Four churches in Market Harborough are joining the annual Thy Kingdom Come (TKC) international prayer initiative by creating outdoor prayer spaces using the noticeboards outside their church buildings.
Starting on Thursday 13 May 2021 and running to Sunday 23 May (the period between Ascension Day and Pentecost Sunday) a poster with an image and a thought will be placed outside St Dionysius, St Nicholas Little Bowden, St Hugh Northampton Road, and Harborough Baptist Church in Coventry Road. The posters will be changed each day.
The same prayer reflection each day will be posted on the Harborough Churches Facebook page with a facility to leave comments on the Prayer Wall. A full document with all the reflections can be found here: Daily reflections for Thy Kingdom Come 2021.
The period will begin with an Ascension Day service on 13th May with a 10am in-building service at All Saints, Lubenham. This will be filmed and form part of a collective Ascension Day service from across the town which will be released on both Facebook and the TKC page on the Harborough Anglican Team website later that day.
On Friday 14th May the Mothers’ Union are joining in the wave of prayer with an online service at 2pm via their YouTube channel or Facebook page. The 11 days of TKC ends on Pentecost Sunday, 23rd May with a Zoom service led by those across Harborough who have drawn TKC together in the town this year. Joining details will be on the Harborough Anglican Team website.
The Harborough Anglican Team website has information on how to download the Prayer Journal and Novena and also the TKC App. There are resources for families and youth and ideas of the theme of TKC “Praying for 5” as we pray for people to come to know the life-transforming love of Jesus. If you would like paper copies of the Prayer Journal or the Adventure Maps please contact Alison Iliffe in the Anglican Team, or Janet Smith (Chair of Churches Together in Harborough) on 01858 463376. Even more resources are available on the TKC website.
