The CUBE Youth Project

The CUBE logo

The CUBE Youth Project provides a safe meeting place at their Youth and Community Centre, located where the old bowls pavilion on Symington's Rec used to stand. [email protected] meets fortnightly on a Sunday evening from 7 - 8:30 pm, for more information contact Adi White on 07484 879043. They also meet regularly with young people at Robert Smyth School on Wednesday lunchtimes.

The work of the CUBE is funded by a variety of indivduals, churches, the Market Harborough and Bowdens Charity, and business people. Continuing prayer is needed for both finance and volunteer helpers. A 'Friends of the CUBE' initiative has been launched to encourage continuing donations.

The CUBE is currently looking to recruit a full time Youth Work Officer, for more information please see Youth Work Officer in Market Harborough

Looking to the future

Lots of people yearn to find out about the future. Horoscopes read and then forgotten, especially if they do not forecast good things. Tarot cards read and predictions given. Then there is the spiritualist guide who can call back the dead so they can warn or help you with something.

Who knows what is going to happen.

There are so many people predicting things. The end of the world is nigh they proclaim. Look at the biblical texts.

Climate change. Sea levels rising. Growing world populations meaning food shortages. Growing numbers of homeless people. No hope. Then of course there is the current problem …Brexit. This will happen if we leave, or if there is no deal. We will be all right. We will be in a mess. Forecasting our future. Who do you believe?

It can be a very worrying time for some. People become depressed and uneasy about the future. They worry about money, housing, families, health. And so it goes on.

We must not forget as these things affect us as adults young people worry as well. They wonder what will be there for them as they leave school, find a job, go to university. Before that though, for many it is approaching the time of exams, and all the expectations of families, their teachers, society and even themselves will be there with them in the examination room.

We pray for Charlotte Cooper who is joining us in August as she leaves her employment to come and work with us. May she feel confident in her own abilities and that we make that transition for her a good experience. We pray that she will feel excited and challenged with the move and may we be supportive and caring for her so that she can face her new future with confidence.

Let us pray for our young people as they approach this time of exams. May they find assurances that they are loved and cared for. As we put our trust in God, help us to live our lives as examples of people who know that we have a loving God. Help all of us to give the support, and care as our young people look into the future. May we love and encourage them so that they will want to help shape the future for themselves and others.

Lunchtime Prayer Meetings

Prayer is central to our work at The CUBE and we meet regularly to pray. Our fortnightly prayer sessions are a way of bringing people together to encourage and facilitate prayer for the work that we do (or would like to start doing).

Our prayer times are a chance to catch up with what’s happening and to pray for the specific needs and activities of the organisation.

We meet on the 2nd and 4th Thursday afternoons from 1pm to 2pm at The Cube, Symington’s Rec. Bring a sandwich and we will provide drinks.

Volunteering Opportunities

Our vision is to see the young people of Market Harborough thrive in their communities. We are looking for more volunteers to join our team to support this vision. Could this be you?

  • Volunteer youth work roles - We have a range of CUBE youth projects that you can get involved in; including evening drop-ins, rock on the rec planning sessions, girl’s group, GodCUBE, and schools work.
  • Admin & maintenance roles - want to support us but not deliver youth work? There are plenty of areas where you can help out - it could be anything from gardening to website development.
