Churches produce video for junior school leavers

Normally at this time of year church leaders in Harborough would be taking special assemblies and leavers' services for year 6 students who will be going to secondary school in September. This year, because of the Covid-19 restrictions, this has not been possible.

So instead three clergy - Andy Murphy (Methodist), James Pickersgill and Alison Iliffe (Anglican) along with Charlotte Cooper, youth work manager at the CUBE - have produced a short assembly on video filmed under lockdown measures. It can be viewed on YouTube by individuals and families.

Says Andy Murphy in an accompanying message, "This comes with the best wishes and prayers at this time of moving up, and in these difficult times." Students will, as normal, also be offered a booklet It's your move which gives tips and advice about moving on, and which will be distributed through the schools as normal.

The team have also produced some short surveys which will help the CUBE youth centre, based at Symingtons, to offer appropriate support and activities for young people.
