Church to welcome Hungarian speakers

Market Harborough Congregational Church is inviting anyone from the area who speaks Hungarian to join them at their 10.30 service on Sunday July 28.

Three Hungarian-speaking church representatives from Transylvania (in Romania) will be visiting Market Harborough at the end of July and will attend the service. Rev György Henter, his wife Marcsi and interpreter Tünde Takacs are Hungarian speakers and will be guests of the Church.

For the past year the Congregational Church has been in partnership with the Citadel Reformed Church in Târgu Mureș (or Marosvásárhely to Hungarian speakers) where Mr Henter is Senior Minister.

Both they and Harborough Congregational Church run substantial Foodbank operations. In addition the Citadel Church provides free medicines in a place where a single prescription can cost over half a month’s pension.

Congregational Church Minister Rev Stephen Haward, who is also Chair of Churches Together in Harborough, says, ’we are delighted our friends from Romania are able to visit us in this way. As well as supporting the Jubilee Foodbank, the churches in Harborough are so active together that we have lots of other things to show our guests.

’We are especially looking forward to sharing worship with them at our morning service on Sunday 28th July. If any Hungarian speakers living locally would like to join us for the service at 10.30 am we would be delighted to welcome them as well.’
