Good Friday 2015
A damp day didn't dampen people's spirits, and we had a good turn out for the Good Friday celebration on the town square, running from 11 am to 2 pm.
We had stalls, children's activities, a prayer tent and at 11.15am a Good Friday Service followed by a soup lunch - all organised by Churches Together in Harborough.
You can download a copy of the leaflet produced about the event here: 2015 Easter leaflet.
Local church leaders, musicians and singers used a large open-sided lorry, provided by Stephen Sanderson Transport, for the Good Friday Service so that everyone in the Square could see what is happening.
The crowds sang along with well-known hymns, including 'To God be the glory'. Soloist Beth Hodgson also sang 'When I survey the wondrous cross'. Hot cross buns, donated by Tesco, were given by the churches to people in the Town Square.
Stalls featured caring initiatives associated with the town's churches including The Bower House counselling service, Torch Trust for blind and partially sighted people, Street Pastors, The Cube youth centre, Clockwise Credit Union, Jubilee Foodbank, Harborough Action for Justice and Peace, and the Fairtrade Group.
Families had fun with crafts at the Activity Tent. There was also a Prayer tent for anyone who wanted prayer for themselves or anything they were concerned about. From 12 midday a simple lunch of soup, bread and cheese was served, with a donation taken up for the work of Christian Aid worldwide.
